Did you know that Strawberry is not a berry?

Yes!

Botanically speaking, strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa) are not true berries. In botanical terms, a berry is a fleshy fruit produced from the ovary of a single flower that contains seeds embedded in the flesh. However, the seeds of a strawberry are actually on the outer surface, rather than being fully embedded within the flesh of the fruit.

The part of the strawberry that is typically eaten and referred to as the "fruit" is actually the enlarged receptacle of the flower. This unique characteristic means that, from a botanical perspective, strawberries are not true berries.

However, in culinary terms and common language, we usually refer to strawberries as berries due to their small size, shape, and the way we use them in cooking and eating.
